MARLISCO National Awareness Activities in Cyprus

As part of its national awareness activities, MARLISCO Cyprus participated in several events over the past weeks.

On Saturday, 20th September 2014, MARLISCO was a supporter of the beach cleanup organized by the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus and the NGO AKTI Project and Research Centre on the occasion of the International Coastal Cleanup Day. On Friday 26th and Saturday 27th September 2014, MARLISCO participated in the WRIGLEY workshop organised within the framework of the Young Reporters for the Environment Programme. A presentation on marine litter, its sources and impacts and solutions was given on Friday by Ms Xenia Loizidou of Isotech Ltd, and a beach cleanup, using a recognised international protocol was implemented on Saturday in Agia Thekla Beach.

Finally, on Sunday 5th October 2014, MARLISCO supported the seabed cleanup that was organised by the winter swimmers association “Vrysouthkia Kelpetri” in the area of “Bania” in Paphos.
