Titled “Navigating marine litter governance: loopholes and strategic recommendations for the EU policy framework”, the paper analyses key European and international legislation related to marine litter prevention, plastic pollution and waste management, identifying structural and implementation gaps that continue to undermine progress despite ambitious policy targets.
The paper also draws on extensive stakeholder engagement and field experience developed through the SeaClear1 & 2.0.
Marine litter requires stronger policy frameworks, circular innovation and science-driven action capable of transforming the systems that produce pollution in the first place!
