ISOTECH’s Director, Xenia I. Loizidou, was interviewed this morning, by journalist Kyriacos Pierides of Super Sport FM’s morning news broadcast, on sea level rise and its impact in Cyprus and the European SAVEMEDCOASTS project, which aims to assess the risks of sea level rise along the Mediterranean coasts. Ms Loizidou mentioned that although we are an island country we know very little about the extent to which sea level rise affects Cyprus and we are poorly prepared to address its impacts. Additionally, she emphasized that the effects of sea level rise are already visible through the increased damage, and thus economic impact, caused by more frequent and stronger storms.

SAVEMEDCOASTS is funded by the European Union’s Directorate General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations.
