Project Information

The project focuses on prevention priority and aims to respond to the need to protect people and assets from natural disasters linked to sea level rise and climate change impacts in Mediterranean coastal areas. The objectives of the project are to:

  • – Support civil society at different levels and with different tools and methods, to produce exhaustive risk assessments for different periods;
  • – Improve governance and raising community awareness towards the impacts of sea level rise and related hazard;
  • – Foster cooperation among science, affected communities and civil protection organisations within and between targeted Mediterranean areas.

Project Activities

The specific activities of the project are as follows:

  • – Development of knowledge base about the state-of-the-art on sea level rise along the Mediterranean coasts by providing multi-temporal scenarios of marine coastal flooding and related multi-hazard assessment methodology to be tested on three sites, and transferred to target stakeholders through workshops and training activities.
  • – Organisational network by technical and informative meetings.
  • – Capacity building through the implementation of decision support systems and consultation processes.
  • – Information, dissemination and capitalization campaigning to reach target groups and develop cooperation and networking among stakeholders and end-users.
